Frequently asked questions.
-
I have an office in River Edge, NJ. I also see clients located throughout New York and New Jersey virtually through a video-platform.
-
That’s a great question and I’m not sure if I have a great answer. From my perspective, I have found that clients can expect similar benefits from therapy regardless of if we see each other in person or over a screen. However, therapy requires meaningful connection and engagement and some people find they can connect better in different settings. If you have questions or concerns about how therapy might look in-person or virtually, don’t hesitate to reach out and we can talk it over together.
-
Yes. I am in-network with Aetna and Optum plans, including UnitedHealthcare, UHC Student Resources, Oxford, Oscar, UMR.
-
Not at all. Some people prefer to pay for therapy out of pocket and not submit claims through insurance at all. Some people prefer not to use insurance so they have greater privacy and control over the process of therapy. If you have questions about whether to use your in-network benefits for therapy, reach out so we can discuss it together.
-
If you are interested in paying for therapy out-of-pocket, my session rate is $200 for a 50 minute session. This fee stays the same regardless of whether you are interested in individual therapy, couples therapy, or sex therapy.
-
Sessions are 50-55 minutes, depending on scheduling, availability, and what duration most fits your needs.
-
If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please cancel or reschedule a minimum of 24 hours before your session start time. If you cancel within 24 hours of your session time, I will charge the full session fee. Please note, insurance does not cover a late cancellation or no-show fee, so you would be responsible for this fee out-of-pocket.
-
I will schedule a consultation call with you for within a day or two of when you reach out. This consultation call helps us both assess whether or not we are a good fit for each other and want to work together. I do my best to fit you in for an initial session within a week of our consult call.

This is one of my favorite questions! Therapy can certainly be about learning specific skills to help you navigate identifiable stressors or stuck points in your life. But therapy can also be about deepening your relationship to yourself—connecting more intimately with your feelings, self-narratives, the parts of yourself that you work hard to hide or avoid—and this type of deep exploration is often best done when you’re not drowning in a specific crisis. If you are looking to understand yourself better—to face with honesty and integrity all the various parts of yourself—therapy can be a wonderful place where you access your curiosity, courage, and compassion to explore your various identities, narratives about yourself/others/the world, and transform any blocks that might be interfering with you living your most empowered, rich, and meaningful life.
-
A simple question with a not so simple answer. Sometimes, all you need is a couples of session to help steer you in the right direction and then you’re off on your own. Other times you might need intensive and consistent efforts at slowly uncovering the complex layers within you to truly find the answers and change you’re looking for. And sometimes in the process of going down one path, an entirely new journey becomes clear that takes you in a direction you never imagined. I suppose what I’m trying to say is we walk this journey together and collaborate on the process the whole time. Together we can decide what you’re hoping to get out of this therapy process and evaluate if the journey is still serving you. And, together, we can work on what saying goodbye looks like.
